Young Armenian wrestler - European champion
Armenia’s representative was the strongest at the European Wrestling Championship.

Armenian freestyle wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan, 61kg weightlifter, won the title of the European champion in Bucharest. In the final Armenian young wrestler won the silver medalist of European and World Championship, silver medalist of the European Games, Georgian wrestler Beka Lomtadze (the final score 17-11). It is noteworthy that Arsen Harutyunyan was losing 0-8 initially.

19-year-old Arsen Harutyunyan started still in the qualifying round. Here he defeated Ukrainian Volodymir Burukov with a score of 14-8.

In the quarterfinals Arsen Harutyunyan's opponent was Turkish Recep Topal. And the Armenian wrestler was defeated first. Later, he succeeded in winning the opponent. Arsen Harutyunyan's opponent in the semi-finals was Romanian Nikolay Ohlopkov. The latter was supported by the whole hall, but thanks to the high-quality features, Arsen Harutyunyan won the opponent 10-4.
