The 34-year-old Juventus striker joined Piers Morgan for an in-depth interview that was aired on ITV. It was the most revealing one from the Manchester United and Real Madrid legend’s illustrious career by far as he discussed all aspects of his journey from a humble childhood in Madeira to a football god, earning £86.5m a year.
One of the revelations he made was that he used to beg for burgers as a kid at Sporting Lisbon. And now he is hoping to track down those who helped him during his time of need.
In the interview, Ronaldo said: “We were a little hungry. We had a McDonald's next to the stadium. We knocked on the door and asked if they had any burgers. There was always Edna and two other girls. I never found them again. I asked the people in Portugal about it, they said it had been closed, and if this interview can help me find them, I would be so happy. I want to invite them to Turin or Lisbon to have dinner with me, because I want to give something back.”
