Announcement on the Involvement of Youth in Public Works
The French Civil Service ("Service civique") wants to involve young people in public works. It enables young people aged 16 to 25 to engage in public / community-based activities as volunteers for a period of 6 to 12 months.

These areas include:

- education,

- health,

- culture,

- environment,

- international development,

- memory,

- sports, etc.

The civil service system operates on two levels: national and international. In the first case, the French youth volunteer for public work in the French territory, and in the second case, the French youth go abroad, instead, France hosts young people from the same country.

Relevant public employment for voluntary youth is provided by the agency or organization concerned, which is committed to providing the work required of the youth by consistently applying the principles of civil service and providing the proper conditions for work. During this period young people are paid a monthly salary of € 580. Their employment is an average of 27-28 hours a week, which allows them not to be overwhelmed by giving them free time for other useful activities (parallel university education, participation in cultural events, etc.). Where possible, travel and accommodation costs for young people are covered by the host organization. Otherwise, alternative funds are being raised to cover the costs. It is noteworthy that the Civil Service Agency is not the body implementing the process. It only promotes the formation of links between the host organizations and ensures that the organizations are properly fulfilling their commitments.
