Daimler and Geely Set Up StarRides Joint Venture in China
In October of 2018, Daimler and Geely made an agreement on a joint venture, and now announced that the new premium service StarRides will be launched in December.

In the beginning it will provide ride-hiding services (short-term car rental with a driver) only in Hangzhou with a population of 10 million people, but in 2020 it will appear in other major cities in China. The brand's slogan is The Best in Motion.

The StarRides mobile app is already available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play. StarRides itself, with 80 employees, is based in Hangzhou, as is Geely Holding, along with "the country's leading technology companies." Partners say they have developed the entire “software infrastructure” necessary to support business in China.
